Inez Fung, ScD

Inez Fung, ScD, is an atmospheric scientist who came to the U.S. from Hong Kong. She is one of the world’s leading experts on climate and the carbon cycle – how carbon dioxide moves throughout the land, oceans, and the atmosphere – and how its movement both depends on and alters our planet’s climate. 

• Founding Director of the Berkeley Atmospheric Sciences Center.
• Contributed to the United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel for Climate Change, which was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007.
• Member of U.S. National Academy of Sciences, Academia Sinica (Taiwan), and Foreign Member of Royal Society, London.
• Appointed by President Obama to the National Science Board.
