Statement of Dr. Alondra Nelson on the Supreme Court Ruling on Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization

“The Office of Science and Technology Policy works every day to advance innovative solutions and more equitable access to health care, opportunities for wellness, and the benefits of scientific research. Today’s Supreme Court ruling is a tremendous setback – and will widen the disparities already present in our system, as well as directly threaten maternal health and well-being. It is also a clear threat to so many other rights Americans expect and broadly support.

“As so many people of courage and conviction who came before have told us: the work of securing rights must continue.

“Our team will continue to coordinate across the federal government to enable access to both medical care and the technology to deliver it. And we will continue to put forward policy guidance that respects privacy and advances the rights of all Americans.”
