As Vice President Harris has said, “the status of women is the status of democracy.” We know that the status of women and the stability of nations are inextricably linked and that wherever the rights of women and girls are under threat, so, too, are democracy, peace, and stability. That is why the White House Gender Policy Council has worked to defend women’s rights, and elevate women’s civic and political participation and leadership at home and abroad.
