National Strategy on Gender Equity and Equality
President Biden and Vice President Harris believe that advancing gender equity and equality is fundamental to every individual’s economic security, safety, health, and ability to exercise their most basic rights. It is also essential to economic growth and development, democracy and political stability, and the security of nations across the globe. That’s why President Biden established the White House Gender Policy Council, which he directed to lead the development of the first-ever National Strategy on Gender Equity and Equality.
In October 2021, the White House released the first-ever National Strategy on Gender Equity and Equality.
The National Strategy on Gender Equity and Equality set forth an aspirational vision and a comprehensive agenda to advance gender equity and equality across ten interconnected priorities in domestic and foreign policy.
In February 2023, the White House released the National Strategy on Gender Equity and Equality Progress Report
providing an overview of the progress made since the strategy’s October 2021 release, spotlighting specific examples of how the Biden-Harris Administration is putting the strategy into action and identifying both new challenges and emerging opportunities as implementation continues.
