During the week of October 10, Assistant to the President for Homeland Security Dr. Liz Sherwood-Randall led an interagency delegation to Doha, Qatar.  In a series of visits and meetings, including with Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior HE Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdul Aziz Al Thani and World Cup CEO Nasser al Khater, Dr. Sherwood-Randall discussed ongoing preparations for the 2022 World Cup, expressed deep thanks to Qatari leadership for temporarily hosting vulnerable Afghans at Camp As Sayliah as they transition to future homes, and conveyed gratitude for Qatar’s continuing efforts to secure the release of American hostages, including Qatar’s assistance with the recent return of Mark Frerichs from Afghanistan.
