Today in Jeddah, President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. met with Amir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani of Qatar.  The two leaders reaffirmed their desire to continue working together to address regional and global challenges and to deepen defense and security cooperation as Major Non-NATO Allies.  The two leaders also discussed Qatar’s preparations to host the 2022 World Cup, and the importance of continuing to implement labor reforms in the lead up to this seminal event.  President Biden expressed appreciation for Qatar’s role in promoting security and stability for the Afghan people, and Qatar’s exceptional efforts in the evacuation of Afghans.
